Jaden Schmitz, Jacob Moeykens and Jase Rogness from Hazen High School won the first round of the #ShowYourEnergy competition with their video outlining how energy affects our morning routine, how we communicate, how we travel and even how some of us see things, according to a press release.
The students are members of teacher Chris Harvey’s video production class and won $150. The students will advance to the final round where they have an opportunity to win a $1,500 grand prize for their classroom, which will be presented at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference in May.
“I would recommend this to other teachers,” said Harvey in the press release. “I think it’s a good chance to do cross curricular types of projects. Social studies teachers working with science teachers, those types of partnerships would work well for this type of program. This also helped us teachers fulfill research requirements, so we benefited on those two activities.”
