  • Bakken Classic Fishing Derby

The Bakken Classic Fishing Derby is a charity tournament sponsored by the North Dakota Petroleum Foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, that benefits wildlife and conservation projects in North Dakota. In its six years of operation, the derby has raised more than $70,000 for projects. Funds have been used to help the Mule Deer Foundation, Pheasants Forever, the Fingal Wildlife Club, and the Planting for the Future Tree Habitat Program, among others.

The tournament was started in 2013 as the North Dakota Oil Can! Fishing Derby and was changed to the Bakken Classic Fishing Derby in 2017. Today, the tournament is for members of the North Dakota Petroleum Foundation’s Bakken Classic Club.

The 7th Annual Bakken Classic Fishing Derby will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at the Four Bears Casino Marina. The Derby is limited to 100 teams. Interested in participating? Join the Bakken Classic Club here.
