  • Bakken Classic Fishing Derby

    The Energy of North Dakota Fishing Derby is held each year to help raise funds for habitat and conservation project. Since the derby first started in 2013, more than $63,000 for outdoors projects. This includes assisting the Mule Deer Foundation with its Tracy Mountain project, as well as resources for nonprofit groups or qualified organizations, including assistance with grant writing and habitat consultation.

    The 5th Annual Bakken Classic Fishing Derby will be held Wednesday, July 19, launching from the Four Bears Casino and Marina. Space is available for up to 75 teams (three people per team). Registration is open for past participants.

    PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DERBY SCHEDULE HAVE CHANGED ON ACCOUNT OF THE WARM WEATHER!

    We will be moving the derby up one hour so we can get on and off the water earlier. Please see the revised schedule below:

    Wed., July 19:
    7:15 a.m. – Flight One (Teams 1-35) boats in the water
    7:30 a.m. – Flight One shotgun start 
    7:45 a.m. – Flight Two (Teams 36-75) boats in the water
    8:00 a.m. – Flight Two shotgun start
    2:00 p.m. – Scale opens
    2:30 a.m. – Flight One boats must report back & weigh-in (Check in with pontoon if ramp is backed up)
    3:00 p.m. – Flight Two boats must report back & weigh-in (Check in with pontoon if ramp is backed up)
    3:30 p.m. – Social sponsored by Weatherford and Dakota Chemical (bring your own beverage)
