The chairwoman of the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education was appointed Thursday by Gov. Doug Burgum to a second term on the board.
Kathleen Neset now awaits a confirmation vote from the Senate.
Burgum appointed Neset from among three finalists considered for the board, which consists of seven members serving four-year terms and one student member with a one-year term. The board oversees the North Dakota University System, which consists of 11 universities and colleges.
Neset earned her bachelor’s degree in geology from Brown University and later worked in Michigan, Wyoming and Texas. She’s lived in North Dakota since 1979 and is president of Neset Consulting Service Inc. in Tioga.
Board members are limited to two four-year terms; Neset’s second term begins July 1.
A release from Burgum’s office said an announcement is expected soon of an appointment for the other seat for a term that expires at the end of June. Kari Reichert currently holds that board seat.
