The first day of school is approaching in Stanley, where elementary students will be greeted by a new $10 million addition.
Stanley School District plans an open house for the two-story addition to give the public a chance to view the new spaces.
The addition includes 11 classrooms, a new kitchen and administrative and main entrance areas. The new entrance will provide security for the building with locking doors, and an inside area for people to wait when they request permission to enter the building.
In the original building, some renovations have been under way as two classrooms will provide additional kindergarten space and a classroom for preschool special education.
The combination of the renovation and the addition will mean there will be room for four sections of each grade.
With the ever-growing classroom sizes, the sixth grade moved to the high school building last year.
