  • Petroleum Council kicks off planting of 58,000 trees in western NDMay 14, 2018

    BISMARCK — The North Dakota Petroleum Council kicked off this week the Planting for the Future program, a project that will involve planting 58,000 trees and shrubs in the state.

    The program is a partnership with the Outdoor Heritage Fund, Oneok, Whiting Petroleum and private landowners to plant trees that will help with conservation, soil preservation and wildlife habitat.

    Work to plant 3,000 trees in Kidder County got underway on Thursday. An additional 22 projects are planned for Burleigh, Morton, Kidder, Emmons, Wells, Stark, Sheridan, Hettinger, Oliver, Mountrail and Dickey counties.
