Seventy mattresses, frames and associated bedding, three RVs and two cars are among recent donations to victims of an EF2 tornado in McKenzie County that killed a baby and injured dozens of people, and wiped out the personal belongings of many more.
Karolin Jappe is at the center of a whirlwind of donations she would categorize as an EF4 on the storm scale, and said she continues to be amazed by the care, concern and generosity of people in western North Dakota communities.
“Companies left and right have wanted to bring in lunch and dinner,” she said. “The Red Cross never even had to make a meal. In fact, we had so many wanting to help that we had to turn people away, not only at the shelter, but at the place where they were cleaning up. It is unlike anything I’ve ever seen.”
